Soooo full

I've eaten far too much for lunch but it was so yummy! There was a shout of Indian food - 9 different varieties. I don't often get to eat Indian as I. can't eat spicy food so this was a real treat. Mind you, as I don't eat spicy food all that often, my ability to eat said spicy food has definitely decreased.

Now I'm sitting at my desk trying to work with a very full tummy and (probably) reeking of garlic. How's that for a word picture?

New toys

OK, so its not really a toy but I have just purchased a new laminator and its GREAT! Its small, relatively light weight (compared to the monster that threw a hissy fit and died) and fast. Fabulous. So new is better. I'll leave aside the whole discussion of whether the idea of turning biodegradable paper into plastic enclosed, live for ever laminates a good idea or not for someone else to sweat over.

Photo shoot

First thing this morning at work we raced out and took photos of cars. Lots of fun. Got to try funny angles and what we thought were arty shots. The only real problem was that a) I was wearing heels which aren't the best for scrabbling around in shrubbery trying to get a different vantage point, and b) the seal leaks tar so we couldn't lie down, kneel or lean on it without getting tar stuck to our hands and clothes. Lots of fun though but I came back in all hot and sweaty even though it was an overcast morning.

Escaping the Office

I took this snapshot as I travelled up the gondola on Friday and roasted in the heat that was the little glass cubicle. As long as we were moving it wasn't too bad but when we stopped, well, heat city. It wasn't even particularly sunny either, just nice and warm for a change.

This is to prove to my little blister that yes, I did take a break and escape the office BUT it wasn't totally unprovoked - a friend rang and said she was going up to do some work so I met her up there. Doesn't fit the criteria we set up does it E?

Holiday Weekend coming up

Today is the last day of the working week - tomorrow is Christchurch Show Day. Traditionally its a screaming hot nor'west day but its come a day early so we've got that today. Apparently the forecast is for thunderstorms over the weekend. Fabulous. Hard to believe that on Monday I was wearing a jacket, scarf and jersey and the last 2 days have been true summer weather.

Normally in a shorter week I'd be in a big panic trying to fit 5 days work into 4 but for some reason I haven't been in panic mode this week. Not really sure why. Maybe its the after effects of the 3 week holiday last month. I've been trying to remember when the last time was that I took more than 1 week's holiday and I can't remember. Even though I try to get a couple of weeks off over Christmas and New Year, some of that time is spent at home and inevitably I end up doing some work over that period. The joys of self employment. It must be true that holidays are good for you if I still feel relaxed about life. More likely is that I've overlooked something and just before I leave tonight I'll find it and then have to come back to work over the weekend.

That sounded very pessimistic and that's not what I meant at all. I enjoy what I do - I just have to work out how to do it more efficiently and earn a better income.
